September is “Childhood Cancer Awareness” month, and I want to share a touching story of a very brave and generous boy. I had the absolute privilege of photographing this amazing young warrior through my work with the Tiny Sparrow Foundation. He and his family touched my heart and continue to inspire me daily. Ethan has decided to auction a prized Josh Hamilton signed baseball to raise money for his hospital’s Neuroblastoma program. Ethan is a true hero! Below are some details from Ethan and his mom, Rachel.
“Hi. My name is Ethan Hallmark. I am 11 years old and fighting Neuroblastoma. I got this ball signed by Josh Hamilton in 2010. I am selling it to raise money for my hospital’s Neuroblastoma program. The money from the ball will help bring in new studies and treatment. I know you think it might be crazy to sell the ball of one of my favorite players, but what’s more important to me is that kids get better. Ham is one of the best players today. But helping kids fight cancer is more important to me.
This is Ethan’s mom. Up for auction is a signed Josh Hamilton ball. I do not have it authenticated. My son was blessed to be able to meet the Rangers and have Josh sign this ball shortly after he was diagnosed with stage 4 Neuroblastoma in July 2010. This ball has been a prized possession of his since then. In March of this year, Ethan relapsed with an extremely aggressive form of his disease. You can read about him at www.caringbridge.org/visit/ethanhallmark
100% of the money from the sale of this ball will go to Neuroblastoma trials/therapies at Cook Children’s in Ft. Worth. Ethan came up with the idea of auctioning off this ball all on his own. He simply has that big of a heart for the other children fighting this monster. Please email me with any questions concerning the ball. The ball itself comes exactly as seen. The back of the ball has very minor finger like print marks. They are very faint. The signature appears to have very slight smudging. It was like this immediately after Josh signed it. Really, this ball is in excellent condition and will look awesome on the dresser or desk of any Josh Hamilton fan.”
